Ice Cream
I couldn't resist writing my first post about one of my favorite foods. Being a Nutritionist, I feel a little guilty about putting dessert first, but life is short. With the weather finally warming up, it is one of the best ways that I know to cool down. A little sandwich shop on Old South Pearl in Denver called The Crushery has just the ticket. They are one of only ten places in the country making liquid nitrogen ice cream. Here's how it works: go to the counter and pick up the little dry erase menu. Choose your size, base (milk, yogurt or vegan) and then check off as many add-ins as you like. The best part is that there is no limit to the ingredients you add to your creation. They will then take your list over to the mixing bowl, add the base and ingredients and pump in liquid nitrogen until you have a lovely, smooth concoction :) My personal favorite is using the vegan base (which is coconut milk) and adding peaches and lavender. All ingredients are of the highest quality - real peaches and real lavender, not artificial flavorings. The process is a bit time consuming, but so worth the wait.
